At least 13 contestants of this year’s edition of E-Wallet singing competition went into camp on Wednesday at Monarchy Lodge in Blantyre.

E-Wallet project coordinator Anthony Kafuwa said the camp is aimed at training the participants on voice and stage etiquette prior to the main competition which kick-starts Saturday at Chichiri Shopping Centre’s M-Theatre.

“The three-day training camp for the E-Wallet contestants started yesterday at Monarchy Lodge. Participants from Mzuzu and Lilongwe arrived yesterday” said Kafuwa.

He said all is set for this year’s E-Wallet show, adding the training seeks to ‘perfect’ the contestants for them to deliver a standard performance for both their winning ways and enjoyment of the audience.

This year’s E-Wallet has been designed in a corporate form with only 250 seats reserved for patrons

Meanwhile, Monarchy Lodge, Premier Bus Company, Zodiak TV and Kips Restaurant have partnered E-Wallet in order to help promoting Malawi’s talent.

For a long time, the music fraternity has bemoaned lack of continuation strategy among participants of E-Wallet. But Kafuwa said the project was exploring ways and means of exposing the E-Wallet talents to potential music labels and sponsors.

“Though the idea behind E-Wallet is to unearth talent, as a brand we are also trying to market the talent by directly working with the corporate world like ZBS TV and recording companies such as Nde’feyo Entertainment.

“We have also created E-Wallet Youtube Account where potential sponsors and other recording companies can search for their preferred great talent from Malawi,” said Kafuwa.
